L.E.A.F.
Established in 2008, Lutherans, Episcopalians, and Friends (LEAF) began as a joint campus ministry at Elon University supported by Holy Comforter Episcopal Church and Macedonia Lutheran Church in Burlington. The Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina and the ELCA NC Synod also support the ministry. Led by a board of directors and campus minister, LEAF officially became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in January 2014. Weekly worship is held on Sundays at 4:30pm in the Sacred Space of the Numen Lumen Pavilion followed by a delicious home cooked meal provided by members of Holy Comforter and Macedonia Lutheran Church. Members also gather for Roots on Thursday evenings for a time of fellowship and reflection. The purpose of LEAF is to offer worship services, reflection time and a religious community on campus to support the needs of students. LEAF is intended to be a religious home-away-from-home for students who share similar spiritual values, traditions and aspirations, particularly building a community of faith based on tolerance, respect, and service. Throughout the year members of LEAF participate in activities such as speakers, community service, interfaith experiences and community building activities to enrich each member’s academic, social, and spiritual experience at Elon. If you are interested in providing a meal for LEAF students, please contact Connie Griner.
