SUNDAY MORNING OPPORTUNITIES

 

Adult Classes/Groups:

Coffee & Talk: An informal time of fellowship in the Parlor.

Sunday Morning Matters:  Meet in the Small Dining Room. See below for more details.

Children & Youth:

Preschool – 5th grade classrooms are all on the ground floor.

Ages three – 2nd grade meet each Sunday morning with 10 minutes of singing in the St. Nicholas classroom. Children will then be directed to their appropriate classes. Grades 3rd – 5th begin Sunday school in their classroom.

Children’s Chapel begins each morning at 10:30 for the first half of the service (K-5th grade).

The Nursery is available downstairs during Sunday School and the 10:30 worship hour. Children five and under are welcome.

Sunday Morning Matters

 

Sunday school for adults at the Church of the Holy Comforter-Everyone is welcome!

Participants are welcome to attend all or any Sunday Morning Matters classes or segments.

Artistic Expressions of Faith- Icon Writing- March 7th

We will be welcoming Mimi Games, an artist who gives expression to her art through icon writing. Mimi will discuss her technique and why what she does is called "writing". She will explain this process with slides and examples of the beautiful icons she has "written". Mimi has studied with Russian Orthodox teachers and has traveled to Russia to study her art. She lives with her husband Dale in Semora, NC.

‘ON THE EDGE’ DISCUSSION GROUP:

 EXPLORING THE GNOSTIC GOSPELS

 

Please join with us as you wait for Spring to arrive and as we study  some of the Gnostic gospels in a DVD series entitled  “Lost Christianities: Christian Scriptures and the Battles Over Authentication.” The lecturer is Dr. Bart Erhman, Professor at UNC, Chapel Hill; the series is produced by The Teaching Company. We will start with the Gospel of Thomas.

 

Our meetings are in the church library on alternate Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00.
