Ensuring Holy Comforter's Legacy in the Future:
The Holy Comforter Endowment Fund

Soon after the first service in the new Holy Comforter sanctuary, the January 1912 edition of The Carolina Churchman published a report describing our “Beautiful Church and the splendid lot on which it stands.” Of Mr. and Mrs. Holt and their gift of the new sanctuary, the article said, “Long after they shall have been gathered home, it will be standing there in its stately and imposing proportions, witnessing to God and His truth, the symbol of Evangelical Truth and Apostolic Faith and Order." Click Here to Learn More...

Nets For Life Inspiration Fund

At the 195th Convention of our diocese in January, Bishop Michael Curry asked that each congregation run a campaign to raise money for the Nets for Life Inspiration Fund administered by Episcopal Relief and Development, ERD. A few facts for your information and prayers:

Every minute, a child in sub-Saharan Africa dies from malaria, a disease transmitted by mosquito bites. A million people die every year from this disease. 90% of all malaria deaths occur in Sub-Saharan Africa.  One long lasting, insecticide-treated net can save the lives of three children sleeping under it.

As a way to continue Holy Comforter's commitment to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) we have signed on to the Bishop's diocesan wide campaign. Nets for Life addresses 3 of the 8 Millennium Development Goals (#1 eradicate extreme poverty, #4 reduce child mortality and #5 improve maternal health).

Bishop Curry's goal is to raise the funds to purchase 40,000 nets, or approximately 1 net for each communicant, to save up to 120,00 lives in Africa. Each net costs $12. Our parish goal is 623 nets. One for each of us. If we are successful in our goal, 1869 people will be protected for the next three years.

“ON THE EDGE”    A DISCUSSION GROUP

The adult discussion group, "On the Edge" meets on alternate Thursdays in the Church Library from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. It is an open exploration and discussion group that pursues contemporary topics and historical realities. It is structured in such a way that a participant does not need to commit to every meeting --- come when you can.
